GoodWe EEPROM Failure

Updated June 2026 · Reviewed for technical accuracy · ~2 min read

EEPROM Failure (error 25) means your GoodWe could not read or write its internal memory correctly. The EEPROM is the small chip that stores your settings and logs. It is an internal electronics fault, and a one-off is very often cleared by a full restart. If it keeps coming back, the control board needs service.

What usually causes it

  • A transient glitch or firmware hiccup, the most common and the easiest to clear.
  • A power interruption during a write, which can leave a setting half-saved.
  • A genuine fault in the memory chip or control board, if it persists after a clean restart.

How to handle it safely

  1. Do a full power cycle. Switch off the AC, then the DC isolator, wait 5 minutes, then restart. This clears most one-off EEPROM faults.
  2. Check your settings held. After it restarts, confirm the time, date and grid settings look right. A memory fault can disturb them.
  3. If it returns, ask your installer or GoodWe about a firmware update, which fixes it when the cause is software rather than a failed chip.
  4. If it still persists, the control board likely needs service. Do not keep resetting it indefinitely.
Good to know EEPROM Failure does not usually stop the inverter producing power, but a memory that cannot save settings reliably should be sorted so your configuration stays correct.

FAQ

Will I lose my settings after an EEPROM Failure?

You might. The EEPROM stores settings, so a memory fault can reset some of them or fail to save them. After a restart, check the time, date and grid settings are still correct, and have your installer re-enter anything that was lost.

Can a firmware update fix EEPROM Failure?

Sometimes. If the cause is a firmware glitch rather than a failed chip, a GoodWe firmware update can clear it. If the memory hardware itself is faulty, the control board needs service. Your installer or GoodWe can tell which it is.
