Growatt inverter error codes, the full list
Unlike some brands, Growatt inverters use numbered "Error" codes (such as Error 300 or Error 405) shown on the screen or in the ShinePhone app. Find your code below, see how urgent it is, and open the step-by-step fix. Start by typing your number:
| Code | What it means | Urgency | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Error 100 | Voltage failure | Stop, call a pro | Full fix guide → |
| Error 101 | Communication failure | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 116 | EEPROM read/write failure | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 119 | GCFI device damage | Stop, call a pro | Full fix guide → |
| Error 120 | Current sensor (HCT) failure | Stop, call a pro | Full fix guide → |
| Error 201 | Residual current (leakage) too high | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 202 | PV input voltage too high | Stop, call a pro | Full fix guide → |
| Error 203 | PV isolation low (ground fault) | Stop, call a pro | Full fix guide → |
| Error 300 | AC voltage out of range | Self-clears | Full fix guide → |
| Error 302 | No AC connection / no utility | Self-clears | Full fix guide → |
| Error 303 | Neutral-to-PE voltage too high | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 304 | AC frequency out of range | Self-clears | Full fix guide → |
| Error 404 | DC bus sampling fault | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 405 | Relay failure | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 407 | Self-test (autotest) failed | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 408 | Over temperature | Check & restart | Full fix guide → |
| Error 409 | DC bus overvoltage | Stop, call a pro | Full fix guide → |
| Error 420 | GFCI (ground-fault) fault | Stop, call a pro | Full fix guide → |
Reading the code on your Growatt
The error shows on the inverter's display or in the ShinePhone / ShineServer monitoring app. Note the exact number (and whether it cleared on its own) before you start.
How to read the urgency rating
Self-clears usually a passing grid or weather event; the inverter reconnects itself.
Check & restart do a few safe checks and a proper power cycle.
Stop, call a pro a safety or hardware fault; don't keep resetting it.
