Solis OV-G-F: Grid Over Frequency

OV-G-F (over grid frequency, code 1012) means the grid frequency the Solis is seeing rose above the allowed range, so it disconnected to follow grid-protection rules. Frequency is set by the utility, not by you, so OV-G-F is almost always a grid-side event that clears on its own when the grid settles.

What usually causes OV-G-F

  • A short grid frequency excursion on the utility side.
  • An unstable or weak grid, more common in some regions and on generators.
  • Running off a generator whose frequency drifts.

How to handle it

  1. Wait for it to clear. The inverter reconnects automatically once the frequency is back in range. A brief, occasional OV-G-F is normal.
  2. Watch the frequency. Rare events are nothing to act on. Frequent OV-G-F suggests an unstable supply.
  3. On a generator, make sure it is sized and tuned for a stable frequency.
  4. For persistent OV-G-F, contact your installer or utility about grid stability.
